Little Wars - H.G. Wells

Recommended
This is a wonderful book by H.G. Wells. It covers, quite basically, the rules and gameplay of Little Wars, a game made to substitute Great Wars (real wars where real people die). Little Wars is played by two men with wooden guns shooting at toy soldiers.

One must read the book to understand the sport, but it still, nonetheless, is a great explanation of the game. The book is so well written that it is hard to tell if the author seriously invented this or it is another one of Well’s inventions, like War of the Worlds.

The author has a talent for making it seem realistic, and covered all the aspects of the ‘game’. At the end of the book is an account of an actual Little Wars battle. All in all, I would rate this book about four stars out of five.
